These days, many costumes are scary because of the gore, snarled faces, and spooky feelings they emit, especially if based on villains like Freddy Krueger or Jason from Halloween. But there’s something particularly nightmarish looking at these vintage costumes. Perhaps it’s the way the people are positioned or the graininess of the photos, but I can just hear a two-note soundtrack quietly playing in the background with maybe even the “swish, swish, swish” of record player when at the end of an album. Imagine it’s dark outside, and the only light you have is the glow of your computer monitor and an illuminated pumpkin outside your window. Enjoy the photos…one.by.one.
